Skin Treatments

There are so many different skin problems, and as we get older it seems there are more popping up.  I've seen several older people with blackheads, and I wonder if they wash their skin properly?  It's necessary to get a good  blackhead treatment  if you notice these things becoming a problem.  I wonder if a deep cleanser would help?  I have had several skin problems in the past year's be was unable to afford good skin care facilities.

St. Jude Children's Hospital

I have such a hard time dealing with the poor little babies and children having to go through this horrible disease. It’s just not right, for these little things to be going through treatments, being poked with needles and throwing up their guts, from the Chemo. I wish there was something I could do, but there isn’t much anyone can do, except, fund the researchers, in looking for a cure, and helping in the fight these sweet children are having.

Loosing........

So many times in a person’s life many forms of grief many to take the strength out of one’s daily course of life. It may come in the form of losing a job, losing a friend to a difference of opinion, losing a husband to another woman and all too gripping death of a loved one. I’ve seem to hit on everyone one I’ve mentioned so far. Losing jobs was a real custom down through the years. Most of the time it was my own fault. A few times it was low performance or too many circumstances that developed in my life. Have you ever thought there was a black cloud over your head? Well, it seemed that way so often, I wondered if I could ever accomplish a thing that would be stable. As of today, I am still finding that life just keeps dealing out some many defeats. It’s really possible to get into a rut of doing the wrong things rather that over coming the defeat and building steps to climb out of it. I’ve lost many acquaintances to careless words and opinions. Believe me I can be rather harsh all too often. I feel it’s my duty to tell a person, what’s wrong with them, their life, their actions and men they seem to care about. God, knows why. I feel there’s so much information in my head that people need to know. I hope that some of it will help them, get over the problem they have and cause insight into their situations. The problem is they mostly want you to listen to them and sympathize with them. They want to whine on your shoulder and have a confidant to pal with. A crutch in other words. I seem to loose many people that way and wonder what could I have possibly done wrong. It bothers me to think that this one would have been a good chum to hang out with. This is a well experienced subject. Loosing to another woman. I’ve gone from loosing the guy to the next girl, who showed up to down right loosing to a competitor. Loosing to the next girl that showed up, was easy since I really hadn’t developed a close relationship with the man. But loosing to a competitor was rough on my ego. Feeling like a whipped puppy wasn’t a good thing. Now, as I look back they did me a favor, but at the time it was happening, I couldn’t figure out what they had that I didn’t. I had always thought that I could get a guy and have him wrapped around my finger. Well, a rude awakening made me change my opinion of my abilities. Still the man I really loved left me, after I told him, I couldn’t put up with the abuse of me or our children. I went through a real hard time of cutting myself from the hold he had on me. Having to go on because I had children, was what seem to help with the daily efforts. Working two jobs help too. Boy, did I feel lost. Here I was stuck with responsibilities,feeling alone. I didn’t have him around, to just at least be there, whether good or bad. I wasn’t part of a couple and felt like a outcast when visiting friends at their get to gathers. I was a mess. Then there’s the death of a loved one. Devastating can’t describe how you feel. I went numb as if I was watching someone else going through it. I walked around as if I was floating outside the situation. I listened to people’s condolences but they all sounded the same. I felt they were mouthing the words, but didn’t really mean a word they said. I just wanted to get away from it all. Maybe if I did, it would all change and get better. I lost my appetite, time seem to stand still and I had a hard time just getting up and walking to another room. Everywhere, was thing’s of theirs. The chair they sat in to watch TV. Their clothes, shoes, toys. I found the strength to help make the arrangements and go to the funeral and graveside services. Then even worse things started. Here came to extended family, wanting what they could get. I just wanted to be left alone for a few days, then I would work with them. That wasn’t going to happen. So, I packed a few things and went to my son’s and stayed for a few weeks, until they had gotten what they thought they were happy with. I came back to see what was left and was surprised to see, that most of my original things were still there. I moved them and gave up the house to his children and let them do what they wanted. Thank God I got a job, this was the move that sent me forward into a new life

  

Jimmy Carter

The outspoken former President Jimmy Carter was a passenger on a commercial flight to Cleveland on Tuesday morning and became ill.  An airport spokesman says he Carter was taken off the plane by rescue crews and  has been hospitalized in Cleveland. 

 

We hope that he gets well, and back on the road with his outspoken ideas for our country.

Eddie Fisher Dies.......

Fisher passed away Wednesday night at his home in Berkeley of complications from hip surgery.
Pop singer Eddie Fisher gained fame crooning love songs like "I'm Yours" and "Thinking of You" to teenage girls in the early 1950s. But his life was overshadowed by drug use, gambling and failed marriages to actresses Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor.
 Fisher had two children with Reynolds: Carrie and Todd; and two girls with Stevens: Joely and Tricia. He was 82.

Cuba's Big Lay Off

President Raul Castro has decided that Cuba's economy needs to be fundamentally restructured and, as a first step, 500,000 state workers are going to be laid-off by next spring. The government employs 90% of the country's more than 5 million workers and so Castro's stripping of what Cuba's official labor union described as "inflated payrolls" is sending shock waves through all of Cuban society.  Some Cubans, however, sees opportunity in the uncertainty - especially in the President's declaration that private enterprise must take up the slack and absorb the newly unemployed.  Older workers are just hoping they can be pensioned off.  For those who can't get a job in the private sector or retire comfortably, there is another recourse: leaving Cuba.
Here is where America will get another deluge of Cuban's trying to get out of Cuba and come to the US for work.  We are already full of immigrants and I don't know how our economy will hold up with the extra that we face from this.

This one's for the men, and that's okay because we women have ours as well. Just How Far

I wonder how far up this one will come, because I volunteer for the Red Cross and we have to make ready for these problems when they occur. 

Need Sleep

I find that sleeping has become a luxury since I've gotten older.  If I'm able to sleep a full night without waking up, I feel blessed.  I haven't started taking  sleep aids  as yet, because I don't want to become dependent on them. I once tried a certain type, but they tore up my stomach and I was miserable the next day.  I guess I'll have to break down and get on a certain diet and consult my doctor for some aid.

Hurricane Karl

Hurricane Karl grew with surprising speed into a powerful Category 2 storm and may strengthen further Friday as it roars toward ports and oil installations on Mexico's Gulf Coast.  The Mexican government issued a hurricane warning for a 186-mile stretch of coast in Veracruz state, stretching northward from the city of the same name. On its predicted path, Karl could make landfall between the port of Veracruz and the oil hub of Poza Rica.  Hurricane Karl has strengthened to a Category 3 storm as it roars toward ports and oil installations on Mexico's Gulf coast.

Tax Cuts......

The Bush era tax cuts expire at the end of the year, setting the stage for a high-stakes debate just before congressional elections in November. If Congress fails to act, families at every income level will see more taxes being withheld from their paychecks come January.  Here's some pressure for lawmakers: If they don't reach agreement on extending soon-to-expire Bush-era tax cuts, nearly all their constituents back home will get big tax increases.
A typical family of four with a household income of $50,000 a year would have to pay $2,900 more in taxes in 2011, according to a tax consulting firm. The same family making $100,000 a year would see its taxes rise by $4,500.  Republicans and a growing number of Democrats in Congress want to extend all the tax cuts, at least temporarily.

More Than One

For the first time in more than a decade, two potent Atlantic storms were churning at the same time, weather forecasters said, although they posed no immediate threat to land. 
"Two major hurricanes are occurring simultaneously in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time since 1999. Hurricanes Igor and Julia are both category four hurricanes," the Weather Channel reported.
Karl made landfall about 30 miles east-northeast of Chetumal, Mexico at about 1245 GMT Wednesday, with top wind speeds of 65 miles per hour.  Karl was expected to hit Mexico twice, boomeranging onto the Mexican mainland, possibly as early as Friday, after its hit on the Yucatan.
The system threatens to dump more rain on Mexico, which already is struggling with flooding in southeastern states including Veracruz and Oaxaca.
Julia surged overnight to category four strength, with top sustained winds at 135 mph (215 kph) per hour, as it moved far out in the Atlantic.

Tornadoes

Dallas, TX was attacked with a bout of tornadoes, yesterday afternoon, which left some damage to a warehouse on the west side of town.  I heard the sirens go off, and wonder just what was going on that time of day.  When they kept repeating themselves every few minutes, I went to the TV and turned it on.  Sure enough there was the weather man showing an on the ground movement with a funnel cloud casting it's way downward from a wall cloud looming over it.  I ran and grabbed some clothes and proceeded to get dressed should I be called for help from the Red Cross.  I volunteer there once a week and know that if anything big arises, I will be needed in the warehouse to pull supplies for the DAT teams at the shelter's.  I also wanted to make sure that I had all my important things close to me in case one should come over to our area of town. 
We were lucky and so was the rest of the town, that was the only flare up we had that was of any significance. 

Feed Your Cat Good......

I've had several cats in my lifetime, and they all were very finicky when it came to eating.  One of my cats was a beautiful white long hair, with an orange and green eye.  She was beautiful and had a very sweet nature.  There were certain foods that she wasn't able to hold down, no matter how she tried.  Some cat foods just didn't sit well on her tummy.  I found that she could eat certain brands, and ever so often when I could afford a better brand I would by it for her as a treat. 
About a year or so ago, I was given a kitten that was a gray stripped tabby.  This cat was crazy and would drive you up the walls with his antics.  He also had a certain food that he couldn't eat.  I had to by a different brand of cat food  to give him.  His stomach seemed to tolerate it much better and I felt like he thrived well, considering he grew very large.  I often wondered what male cat species his mother mated with, to make him so big? 
Somehow, my cat finally came up missing, when mating season came around.  I never found him after that and wonder if someone else decided he was a good cat to keep, since he had already been house broken?  I haven't replaced him, because I now live in an apartment and don't wish to pay the huge deposit for a pet.

Earl.......

My son and daughter in law live up in Virginia, so as you can tell I'm worried about them and their safety......They are considering going into Richmond, VA in order to get away from the brunt of the storm force.  From the look of the path, I wonder if that will be far enough inland to really be safe?
