WAMU........

A Washington Mutual bank branch sign is shown in Encinitas, ... It's getting rough out there.......

WaMu was seized by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in the largest failure ever of a U.S. bank. WaMu is JPMorgan Chase's second acquisition this year of a major financial institution hobbled by losing bets on mortgages.

JPMorgan Chase is now the second-largest bank in the United States after Bank of America Corp., which recently bought Merrill Lynch in a flurry of events that included Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. going bankrupt and American International Group Inc., the world's largest insurer, getting taken over by the government.

A Comment on Drug Testing

I received a comment on one of my posts, and so I thought I'd try to explain.....for those of you who already understand......please disregard this post..... In the USA, many companies, call for mandatory drug tests when employees are hired. There are times during employment, that an employee maybe be called upon to give a urine sample, when there is some speculation about their current employment status. Random testing of government, state and local employees, is important to keep the employees and country in a drug free environment, protecting both parties. If immigrants want to work, here, then the person, who wrote the article, that I shared, thinks that they should have to do the same as the American people.........it's as simple as that......

I have placed this blog on Technorati and it's still not getting any Authority, and this makes me wonder. Maybe I've not done something right, or I've done something wrong. Either way, I know this blog is getting hits, because my Feedjit, map shows so. Maybe, I need someone to link to it.............how about it? Give me your links!

Is America Safe?

Seven years after 9/11, al Qaida and its allies are gaining ground across the region. Bin Laden and his inner circle have established new bases inside Pakistan , where they plotted deadly attacks in London and Madrid , and where U.S. intelligence officials say they're plotting new attacks and training recruits. This year Taliban has carried out their most lethal attacks against foreign troops, launching coordinated strikes in different areas that combine regular attackers and suicide bombers. Last month over a two-day period the insurgents hit a major U.S. base in eastern Afghanistan with at least 10 suicide bombers and a ground force and ambushed a French-Afghan patrol near Kabul. The insurgents' strategy has two major goals: to erode popular support for the U.S.-backed governments in Islamabad and Kabul and to undermine popular backing in the United States and allied countries for continuing the mission in Afghanistan . They appear to be succeeding, with recent polls in Britain , France , Holland and Canada showing majorities favoring troop withdrawals. How can you blame them, when they see no progress in the control over the Taliban?

Texas State Fair

The Texas State Fair begins Sept. 26th and ends Oct. 19th. and during this time has plenty of fun for everyone. Plenty of food, amusements, rides, shows and exhibitions. The fair has been around since the early 1800' and has brought many exclusive entertainers to the Midway, during the years. Big Tex is the main attraction on the Midway and speaks a "welcome" to the crowds that visit several times a day during the Fair. His "Howdy Pardner", has been heard many years. The voice of Big Tex has been made by the same man, all these years until he passed away and a new voice took over. Big Tex, still talks and thrills the children when they see his jaw moving as he speaks. Big Tex first started as a gimmick in Kerens, TX as a Santa to draw customers for the Christmas rush. In 1951, the Texas State Fair president purchased Kerens Chamber of Commerce Santa components for $750 and hired Dallas artist create a giant cowboy out of the material. Big Tex made his first appearance at the 1952 State Fair of Texas. Wearing size 70 boots and a 75-gallon hat, Tex towered 52' above wide-eyed visitors. His denim jeans and plaid shirt were donated by the H. D. Lee Company of Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Cosmetic surgery the following year straightened his nose, corrected a lascivious wink and allowed him to talk.

Isn't She Sweet?

I was shopping last evening, at Wal-Mart, when I saw someone who was family. It was the girl who gave birth to my youngest grand daughter. And there she was, the cute little girl, that she had blessed us with.

Jessica, is now 5 years old and really sprouting up.

003.JPG I can tell she’s going to be a very smart young lady. Look out you young men, when she grows up, you’ll be twisted around her little finger, just like her daddy, is today…….

005.JPG Grandma, just had to take a picture or two… :) that’s the way grandma’s are.

Why Not?

I HAVE TO PASS A URINE TEST FOR MY JOB… SO I AGREE 100%. Like a lot of

folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and

the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that

paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no

problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to

people who don’t have to pass a urine test. Shouldn’t one have to pass a

urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for

them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on

their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone

sitting on their butt, doing drugs, while I work. Can you imagine how much

money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a

public assistance check? Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if

you don’t. Hope you all will pass it along, though. Something has to change

in this country — and soon!

High School Sweetheart.........

I remember it like it was today…………

My lost love, whom I hope is still alive………he was 3 years ago, when I found him on the internet, and made an effort to contact him………he called me and we talked for a few minutes……..he said what he want me to hear and said a fast “goodbye”. That was the extent of it……..

I hurt with a deep thud in my stomach for a few weeks, and every time the phone rang, I looked to see if it was his number………alas, by nay…..he never made contact again.

Being one year older than me…….he could very well have passed on in the last 3 years…..who knows, but I respect his wishes, and have not made another effort of contact.

Ray, was my high school sweetheart, and we planned to get married, the weekend he came home on leave, from basic training in the Marines. It never happened, because his estranged jealous mother, broke us up, saying we were too young to know what we were doing. Actually, she had lost him to his Dad, back when he was a baby with the child custody thing, so she finally had her grown son, back in her life and she wasn’t about to give him up now. I hurt really bad over the breakup, the way it all came about. Her lies about me, were what hurt the most, and I couldn’t understand why she did it, except she wanted to find the best possible way to tear him away from me. That’s exactly what she accomplished. I hadn’t done anything to her, so I couldn’t grasp her deeds toward me, except being a very malicious, horrible, unhappy person.

I saw Ray, one more time, after it all happened. He came to see me after I had already married another man, and had a child. He told me that he had gotten another girl pregnant, out there in California, and was going to do the right thing and marry her. That was the last time I saw him and several years down the road, I got up enough guts, to call his Mom, who still live in a nearby town, here in Texas and she told me Ray had gotten his electrical degree from college,(quite an accomplishment) and that him and his wife had a son. So, that was it, he had done what he said he was going to do, Ray was that way.

This last time I called him, was just to make connections and find out if he was still alive after all these years. The love is still felt by me and I hope in a way, his is too.

People Across The Street.......

The drive way across the street is a hazard for any car parked in front of my house. My mailbox also has suffered for these people’s onslaught. The back out and just don’t look in the mirrors or in back of their vehicle.

My daughter’s pickup, got creamed when she was here.

If this was the first time, I could understand it, but this same guy has hit this truck and my mailbox.

The other time a vehicle got hit, was on Mother’s Day, and my other daughter’s pickup was also parked in the same place. This “little old lady”, was across the street picking up her grandchildren from their visitation with those grandparents, and she backed out and broke Ashley’s truck tail light. This lady must have been on some heavy medication, because she was very out of it………it scared me to see her drive off.

It's A Toss Up......

The nation is facing electing a person, who is not ready to lead the country. As of now, we are only looking at the two men, who are running against each other and they have picked running mates. Now that McCain has picked Sarah Palin as his running mate, there's a lot up in the air. That one’s a toss up of underdogs. Then you look to Obama, and what do you see? Clinton, was let down ……..so, he could pick someone else at the last minute and surprise all of us. This is someone who won’t even salute the American Flag. 0041.JPG I’m still worried at the outcome of the election, with these two men as candidates and no one else to choose from. The issue of McCain’s age has come up and that well could deter many, when choosing, but there's Sarah. Obama, hasn’t been on the front line in the military, so he can only guess, and either way the one who is finally our president, will be subject to the cabinet and advisers on each affair. The president really can’t run the government by himself, so all these other people will have their say in how he should decide. I feel a certain snobbish air with each man, and wonder where the American people will be in 4 years. Certainly the middle and lower class people will suffer once again at the hands of our government. This time I also worry about our nations, elderly and disabled citizens. We really have a problem on the home front and it’s not going away any time soon.

Mr. Bad Cat.........

The Cat of the House……….so he thinks……….he’s really a big baby and a pain in the backside. Actually, he’s my spouse’s baby……I just put up with his antics. 003.JPG He gets a run for his money outside, there are several birds who just don’t want him around and he gets a big peck in the top of the head daily, if he’s not fast enough. 001.JPG He doesn't get the message.......and now he doesn't realize that, I won't be there every minute to bail him out of trouble.

We Won This time....

If the Medicare bill proved anything, it’s that Washington does listen when enough people – in this case 1 million people! The usual partisan squabbling is stalling progress on the issues that matter in the lives of American families. Our representatives need to stop working against each other and start working for us. We need to build on the momentum this critical election year and demand comprehensive, bipartisan health care reform.

The bill that passed will:

Ensure that Medicare patients continue to have access to care; Improve prevention coverage and services; Improve low-income protections; and Provide improved coverage for mental health services.

It took a lot of hard work, a lot of lobbying, and a remarkable million online messages from you. I’m ecstatic that we were able to Keep Medicare Fair. So, stand up America and fight for the benefits you deserve, and keep our government working for it’s people, the way it should.

Back Woods Humor

A friend sent this joke to me and it was so cute I had to share it with you guys…..

A redneck family from the hills was visiting the city and they were in a mall for the first time in their lives. The father and son were strolling around while the wife shopped. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again.

The boy asked, ‘Paw, what’s at?’ The father (never having seen an elevator) responded, ‘Son, I dunno. I ain’t never seen anything like that in my entire life, I ain’t got no idea’r what it is.’

While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat old lady in a wheel chair rolled up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small circular number above the walls light up sequentially.

They continued to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order. Then the walls opened up again and a gorgeous, voluptuous 24 year-old blonde woman stepped out. The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son,

‘Boy………………go git cha Momma……………’

Yes America Needs It's Army..........

Recently I got into a debate with a person from another nation, and this is what I wrote: Do you remember 911, then how can you say America, does not need an army? Land of the FREE and home of the BRAVE, didn’t get that way, by letting people run over us. America, needs to protect itself for these stupid people, who are jealous of our country…….. Yes, we need an army in today’s world. America is well sought after, by all people fleeing the countries, that have them in oppression. We the American people, have let our guards down and have been infiltrated more than once, by these terrorists. Pearl Harbor, and 911, is a good example of those type of threats. America, is still a great country and like I said, many are jealous.

Goodbye To Another One.......

Another acquaintance has passed on to the next world and it seems like everyone I know is just about gone. If things keep going the way they have been, there won’t be any left to come to my funeral. :( I guess that means that I’m out living most of the people I have known down through the years. Many of the people I went to school with as a child and teen, are gone. It really feels weird, to think of these people, not being alive. They were the same age as me and went through the same areas of life, that I did while going to school. Now they are dead and gone, from this earth. I know it’s a sure thing, but they sure got cheated on their years down here…or up here…….however the case may be. :) It’s getting a little weird, being alive with people younger than me. I’m not griping, just wondering how it will be if I live another 30 years…… :( Gosh, it’s really going to be a trip…..! I’m one of long life and I could stay around a few more years. My mom is still alive and she’s in her 80’s, so I’m looking toward some extra one’s. :)

Some People

I know your wondering what I’m talking about? Well, the word “nasty” can be construed, in many different ways. There are mean and nasty people who hurt other’s feelings, with no remorse. There are nasty people who are just “filthy” and don’t keep themselves clean or their habitats either. I wonder how they can justify their actions? I know that I’m lazy, and have to really push myself to do the necessary house work, to keep things going right. I still get it done……….maybe not when people think I should……..but it gets done. I’m sure that living on the streets, gives a person the way of life that necessitates being nasty. I think that it’s hard to survive on the streets and yes it can be hard to stay clean. I have gotten too close to some of the street people and the body odor, was nauseating. Needless to say, I got myself further away from the area and let a fresh breeze clear the air. I know that once they are in that shape for awhile, they become accustomed to their smell and don’t realize how they smell to other’s. There’s other ways people are nasty and I’m at the point I’m not ready to write about any more.

Is this Folk Art?

048.JPG I wonder if this is folk art, I found it when I was looking for valentine pictures back in February. It looked like the perfect picture to show a person’s affection for another. I hope that this is a great form of art, since I’m placing it in my Arts & Humanities group. I’ve often wondered about the early 1900’s or the 1800’s, when things were so different. 047.JPG Not many had plenty of money and nice clothes. If they didn’t have their own seamstress, then they had to buy their clothes from a catalog. Those times were just the beginning of our world as we see it now. I think at times, we should be living back during those era’s, when things weren’t so bad. 046.JPG I know things were crude back then, but they were more simple as well.

Ike Blasted Cuba..........

In this satellite photo provided by NOAA shows Hurricane Ike ... Ike tore through Cuba as a Cat.4 and lost some of it's strength. It's headed toward warm water, where it can pick up strength again and head toward Texas or Louisiana. Residents in the Florida Keys breathed a sigh of relief Monday as a fierce Hurricane Ike turned west on a path away from the low-lying island chain. The storm has killed several people, torn up homes and property, with a rude force. Flooding is paramount and devastation is found to be everywhere. Forecasters watch to see which way the hurricane heads, once it gets into the Gulf of Mexico.

My Car Sounds Bad.........

Have you ever gone out to start the car in the mornings and it gave you a “nothing” action? I mean, it wouldn’t even make a sound? You heard a thud, but it’s not the car, it’s your heart falling down to your feet. :( That’s all you need on a morning like this. Your already late, the boss will scream at you and heaven knows what else the day will bring. You know for sure it will be a big auto repair bill. Those things never are small, no matter how hard you try to find a good deal. :( Why now, of all times, you ask? Would there have been a good time for the car to break down? NO! This type of problem, is almost as bad as breaking a leg. It’s something you have to deal with, there’s no getting around it and it’s a pain in our finances. Cars control our life and we need them more than they need us. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to keep a car running, year round? You’d think it understood, it’s supposed to be there when you need it! :)

PPP Is Scaring Me...........

I've lost the use of 2 blogs that were already approved by PPP, and now I'm scared that I will loose the rest of them. What will I use to post on and make money, if they get rid of all my blogs? I have only one other website that utilizes these blogs, and you never know when they will get too particular with their qualifications and change everything up, like PPP did. This will cause the loss of money and I don't even know what is wrong with the blogs.

You Might Be Redneck If............

My email friends are always sending me these things...........so I share them with my readers....... It's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up. Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit -- that's what rednecks are made of. I hope I am one of those.

You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation under God.' You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places. You might be a redneck if: You still say

'Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.' You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays. You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem. You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have. You might be a redneck if: You've never burned an American flag, nor intend to. You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening. You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same. You might be a redneck if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

What a Mess........

Do you think that the 17 year old daughter Bristol, is the mother of Trig? Palin, says that Trig is her own son, born in April of this year. If Trig was born in April 2008 and her daughter is considered to be 5 months pregnant now, then something's not right. I can count better than that.
Bristol Palin , the 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice ...
If you think it's a lie, then why hasn't anyone, gotten in contact with the personal doctor of Palin, to find out if in fact she was pregnant last year? It's very easy to find out if someone was pregnant in a certain year.

My Flowers are Blooming

My Hibiscus is blooming and I take a picture of it because, when it's not blooming people think it's another type of plant......... imagine that! A blogger, told me she thinks this is a member of the Venus Fly Trap family.......what do you think? I've asked several different people and none have come up with the actual name for it.

This Blog is Not Just to Make Money!

I have gotten a rejection on this blog from BlogExplosion.........can you imagine that? They say this blog is strictly for making money......how nice of them to decide what I'm writing this blog for. I do hope that later, when it takes off, they will see, how wrong they were to judge, my blog. Get real, all the blogs are about making some sort of finances, whether it be with ads by google, or etc. I haven't visited very many blogs that are not making some kind of money. If they will go back a post or two, they will see that this blog, has listings of my own writing. I started this blog to take the place of my oldest blog. The poor thing is about to bite the dust and the template is almost gone. Somehow, I moved the wrong thing or put in the wrong thing. I'm not smart on templates and don't understand how to fix it.

Kicked in the Teeth

Boy, that was a hard lesson learned, what a kick in the teeth! I’m still trying to be a good blogger and I keep kicking my own self, down the ladder of success. You’d think I’d watch what I’m doing and get things done right! Now I’ve lost another post, because of my stupid hurry, trying to get the job done and get another post, while it was there.

Well, if I don’t get kicked off of the website, I’ll be lucky…….that’s two rejected posts in one day, and that’s an “ouch”, especially since it’s because of the same sin. I’m not really wanting to do this, I’m getting in too big a hurry and making mistakes. That’s it, no more of this crap….I don’t like loosing money, after all my hard work researching and writing, not to mention all the grabbing for a job. I’m going to take my time from now on, no matter how many jobs, slip by while I’m busy doing a post.

If you think that’s bad, the very next day, I got another website, that wanted to kick me too. Now, how’s that for making waves? then I thought I had been approved on a job, thats time of running had run out on and now I find I won’t get paid for it, because I have already deleted it from my blog. If it’s time had run out, then why did I need to keep it on my blog? I don’t understand, but then there’s a lot I don’t understand.

Procrastination

So, what am I doing today, to get my world going in the right direction? Ouch, that’s a no-brainer, when it comes to what I’m doing. As you can see, I’m on the computer again, which is one of my daily habits, and trying to get other chores done. The printer doesn’t want to work properly and I’ve re-done this thing several times and it still messes up. Darn printer is aggravating me, just one more thing to start my day off. Chores consist of doing laundry, going to the freezer and getting something out to thaw for dinner, doing the dishes. Oh heck you name it, I need to do it. I’ve been a bit lazy lately and haven’t been doing the proper things. Now, I’m ashamed to admit that, but sometimes, I get off into a different world, and it’s not including those things.

Procrastination, is my middle name, most of the time. Just when I think I will, I don’t. How’s that for good comment? So, here I sit, wondering, what I’ll do today and not really wanting to do much of anything.

Writing a Fill In Post

What I have here is a chance, to work and I’m finding it hard to keep the criteria going to speed along the process and still be able to get my posts done in a timely manner. I have to write a post between each paid post in order to comply with the rules and standards of the websites I’m working for. So, without further delay I write in order to write. Now how is that for understanding, what I’m saying to you? If your a blogger then you totally understand and just maybe you have a small bit of sympathy for me.

Either way, it’s got to be done or else. We know what that or else, means. Rejection, is a hard word to swallow and one I don’t handle too well. Just ask my colleagues. They know all too well, to get out of the way, when rejection, creeps into my world.

A Lazy Day..

It’s been an eventful beginning of the week. We’ve had bad weather and the wind in some areas was 30 to 40 mph. So, it’s still cloudy, but they say we are out of the rain for a day or so, then the chance again in a day or so. It turned cool again, with the hurricane that came through so, that makes me want to stay inside where it’s cozy.

Having this computer is just the very thing to keep me occupied. Not only does it give me something to do, I can always connect to the outside world as long as my DSL stays working. I’ve had a few times when the Phone tech’s would have to come out and re-install a new card down in the main box on the next street. The tech says that with all the boards that are running in the box, it stays warm in there and the heat has an effect on the DSL card. Either way, it’s a problem for everyone on this street and local area when this happens. Sure cuts into my blogging, unless I can make it to the library.

Today, though is a good day and I’m hoping it stays that way. So far so good.

A Cat's Life

It’s been a lazy crazy day, watching the Payperpost website, for more posts to do, plus catching up with my friends and letting them know what’s going on in my world.

I guess the cat’s thinking I’ve disowned him, or forgotten him. He keeps coming in looking at me and meowing. I’ve fed him, hey what else could he possibly want. A rub maybe, yeah that’s it, he’s such a baby.

If I’m lucky things will go well, today and all my work will get done in a timely manner. If not then I crashed…….what a bad thing that will be……I don’t like spur of the moment battles to undertake, but if I have to, I will.

Maybe I’ll be lucky and nothing will happen. Tomorrow’s another day, waiting to happen.

Fried Chicken Anyone?

I sure do like “fried chicken”, and it likes to put pounds on me……….I just can’t seem to resist the fried chicken, cream gravy, creamed potatoes, hot rolls and a tossed salad. I pour the gravy on the chicken, potatoes, and rolls and I’m in “hog heaven”. I’ll sit there and eat until every savory morsel is gone. I love my food………..it’s something I’ve always had a craving for. For some people it’s hard to fry chicken, that turns out good. I had to work at it for years. Believe me, it wasn’t as easy as breading it and putting it in the grease and frying. I got several pieces, that still had the center raw. So, trail and error became the standard in everything, I’ve learned to cook over the years. I’ve really learned how to make it all taste “very” good. Guess that ’s why everyone comes to my house for the holidays. They know where the good food is going to be and that I’ll be cooking……..lol.

4 to 6 pieces chicken

1 c. flour

1 tsp. oregano

1 tsp. basil

1 tsp. garlic powder

3/4 c. oil

In bowl mix together dry ingredients, rinse chicken pieces in water, baste in flour mix. In lg. skillet, place oil and arrange basted chicken. Fry until sides start to brown, turn and pierce with fork. When both sides are brown, make sure to pierce again, just in to be sure middle of pieces are done. Remove to paper toweled plate, to drain off excess oil. Serve hot.
