Kim Dae-jung Dies at 85

In June 14, 2000, South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, eft, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il raise their arms together before signing a joint declaration at the end of the second day of a three-day summit in Pyongyang, North Korea. Kim Dae-jung, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts at reconciliation with North Korea, including the historic summit with the North Korean leader, died at a hospital in Seoul, South Korea, Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009. The 85-year-old former president had been hospitalized since last month for pneumonia.
