Pakistani police gather beside the destroyed five-star hotel after a bomb blast in Peshawar. A huge suicide truck bomb ripped through a luxury hotel Tuesday killing 11 people and wounding 52 in Pakistan's Peshawar city, capital of a northwest province plagued by Taliban violence.
It fits the pattern of recent attacks the Taliban said it launched in retaliation for a military campaign against militants in the Swat Valley region.
An injured man is stretchered into a local hospital after a bomb attack in Peshawar June 9, 2009. Militants attacked a hotel popular with foreigners in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar with guns and a truck bomb on Tuesday, killing five people and wounding 25, government and security officials said.
