White House Demands End to Violence........

Supporters of the Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) burn Israeli and U.S. flags during a protest against the Israeli air strikes on Gaza, in Karachi, today . President Bush issued a statement saying the United States wants to see a lasting peace in the region and that is what the administration is trying to help bring about. Bush said that it hangs on the willingness of Hamas to "agree to respect a sustainable and durable cease-fire." Bush spoke on the phone from his ranch, with adviser Stephen Hadley to receive an update on the situation and was being kept abreast of developments.

Now, how much of this do you believe...........these people have been fighting over this land for so many years.........I know it's not going to stop now......More than 280 Palestinians have been killed and more than 600 people wounded since Israel's campaign to quash rocket barrages from Gaza began midday Saturday, according to Palestinian medical sources.

People leave a JCPenney store with packages less than an hour after the store opened at 5:30 in the morning for after-Christmas sales Friday Dec. 26, 2008.

The last week of December represents about 14 percent of Christmas sales, 30 percent to 50 percent of a retailer's annual total sales, has been less than jolly for most retailers.

Stores were hoping the discounts would entice shoppers to redeem gift cards and use cash from returning unwanted gifts to buy something new. Job cuts, portfolio losses and other economic woes have convinced consumers to cut back on their spending.

At this local bar we go to, there are several slot machines............well...........I hit the 8's last week on a jackpot and won $285.00.........I invested about $120.00 to make it.........but it was fun and I rarely, get a chance to do this anymore........either I don't have any money to do it with or other people have the machines tied up. I have such a hard time dealing with the poor little babies and children having to go through this horrible disease. It’s just not right, for these little things to be going through treatments, being poked with needles and throwing up their guts, from the Chemo. A Shoe........

Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki tries to protect George W. Bush after an Iraqi journalists threw his shoes the US leader during a joint press conference in Baghdad. It will likely rank as one of the more bizarre episodes of his presidency -- George W. Bush, surely one of the most protected leaders in history, ducking as two size 10 shoes hurtled in his direction.

Soles of shoes are considered the ultimate insult in Arab culture -- after Saddam Hussein's statue was toppled in Baghdad in April 2003, many people beat its face with their soles.

The footwear belonged to an Iraqi television journalist, Muntazer al-Zaidi, who jumped up as Bush was holding a press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

"It is the farewell kiss, you dog!" he shouted, and threw the shoes before being wrestled to the ground by security guards and frogmarched out.

Bush lowered his head and the first shoe hit the American and Iraqi flags behind the two leaders. The second was off target.

"I didn't know what the guy said, but I saw his sole," Bush quipped later, not the first -- and he won't be the last -- to rack up a shoe pun.

Bush, who has strongly defended the 2003 invasion that triggered years of deadly insurgency that has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis and more than 4,200 US troops, rejected suggestions Zaidi represented the Iraqi people as a whole.

"I don't think you can take one guy throwing shoes and say, this represents a broad movement in our country," he added.

Jerusalem & West Bank....Bracing....

Israel beefed up security throughout Jerusalem and the West Bank on Friday, bracing for new violence after the evacuation of a disputed West Bank building set off a rampage by Jewish settlers. Police said they had placed a larger-than-usual deployment of 500 officers in and around the West Bank city of Hebron, the center of Thursday's unrest, and taken up positions elsewhere in the West Bank.

Police and soldiers also were on heightened alert throughout the West Bank, defense officials said.

The moves followed Israel's eviction Thursday of dozens of extremist Jewish settlers from a Hebron house claimed by both Jews and Palestinians. The settlers had holed up in the four-story building in defiance of a Supreme Court order to get out while ownership is determined.

The eviction set off rampages by settler youths who attacked Israeli policemen and Palestinians and set fire to Palestinian homes and cars. Some 35 Israelis and 17 Palestinians were wounded, including five Palestinians who were shot.

O.J. Is Sentenced..........
