Dallas experienced another apartment fire around 10:30pm Monday night, which left  41 people homeless, right before the new year.  None of the residents, or the firefighters, were injured during the incident. The American Red Cross is now helping the displaced residents find temporary homes. Since Thanksgiving, the American Red Cross has helped roughly 200 people displaced by four different apartment fires.

Donkeys

So why do farmers buy donkeys?  What are they good for?  I don't understand the need except maybe for pack animals.  My sister lives on a ranch and they have some donkeys there.  She pets them and feeds them apples when they come up to the fence.  Lately it's been daily and I caught a picture of them while I was visiting this last weekend.

Wish Lists.....

I can't believe it, but I found this article about making "wish lists" for Christmas.  It's supposed to help with keeping you from getting unwanted presents.  I'm not sure this is considered proper, but either way it's happened and I think it takes away from the spirit of giving.  It's supposed to be a surprise and your supposed to be thankful for what someone was able or nice enough to give you.  Christmas has sure lost it's fun during the last few years.

Security

I'll admit there have been times, when I lived in a neighborhood where I didn't feel safe.  It was necessary for me to get an extra  door bolt  for added protection.  I hoped that it might deter an intruder long enough to make them give up and leave.  It's nice to have a good bolt to secure your home and property.  For more information on the different types and designs of door accessories, click on the above link and shop around the website.

Football

Have you noticed that when 2 football teams are playing and they are not in the playoffs, that they hold back their main players?  I'm sure you know why this is, and even so I believe they should earn their salaries.  The team manager's and coaches decide that it's best to bench these important players in order to protect their ability to play next season.  They want them to stay healthy for the coming year.  The idea is to play members of the team that you don't have as much money invested in, and who aren't as important to the team's success.  The team has already lost the chance to make this season a winner, so it's a maintaining situation.

Ripple Effect?

Opponents of the gay ban called Saturday's vote a historic victory. Since 1993, when President Bill Clinton signed the ban  into law, more than 13,000 troops have been discharged under the policy.

But there's been a dramatic shift in public attitudes toward gays in the military over the last 17 years. In 1993, a Washington Post poll found just 44 percent of the public thought gays should have the right to serve openly in the military. In 2008, Obama campaigned on overturning the ban, but he was slow to push that policy in his first year in office, a move that angered the gay rights community and many of his liberal supporters.

While Obama will get some credit for overturning the ban—especially when it comes to wooing moderate Republicans on the issue—Democrats in Congress were the people who really led the charge.
I keep watching the changes that America has been going through, when will it end?

Tis' The Season.....

Around the house you will find people with their cameras  pointed at family members, during this holiday season.  That's what it's all about, during these times of family togetherness.  Memories are best captured on film for future generations to look back on.  You can have great pictures of these family times, and see what everyone was doing, while your back was turned.  I know one family who has this certain person, who has her camcorder rolling during her family holiday's.  I watched a few of the videos and enjoyed the memories.

Donations Down

There are many children still on the waiting list for Santa to have toys for them by Christmas.  The toy donations are down this year and the local toy drive's are just not meeting the quota of needs.  Several organizations who distribute toys each year are finding their shelves bare and there's still a few days until Christmas.  It's a rough time to find the extra cash for such expenses.  Some people are barely able to pay rent and have to rely on food banks to scrape by on food supplies.  Give a helping hand to those in need and remember it's not just Christmas when the need is great, but all year.
