In most of the stores today, you see these scanners. It helps with employee error and keeps things moving with correct codes and prices of the items. This is a convenience that wasn't around back in the early 60's and now most stores can't do without them. The population was much smaller back then as well, so items weren't as hard to handle. Automation has taken hold of the world and it's now necessary to move along with it.
