St. Jude's Children's Hospital

I was recently sent this in the mail by Marlo Thomas, the daughter of this esteemed man. I loved him as an actor back during my early years of watching TV. To me he was the epitome of good wholesome man.......his efforts to help people who were unable to handle the expenses for their sick childrens care is outstanding beyond words. It is with utmost respect that I challenge you to follow in this man's footsteps and help by making a donation to his research and hospital groups. You won't regret the efforts and the families, won't forget the needed assistance. Give a child the hope of a future, by making that pledge today.......

Digital Switch.....

Over 421 stations turned off their analog TV transmissions last Tuesday, joining more than 200 others that had already made the switch. Some TV markets in the U.S. still have most of their stations broadcasting in both analog and digital. But San Diego and Santa Barbara, Calif.; Madison, Wisc.; Sioux City, Iowa; Waco, Texas; Scranton, Penn.; and large swaths of Rhode Island and Vermont, saw most or all of their major stations make the DTV switch on Tuesday. The digital switch is not something they're doing to extort people of their money. This has been in the planning for the last ten years.

Obama Plans To Send..........

Pakistan's startling accord with Taliban fighters looms as a setback for the Obama administration. President Barack Obama responded by announcing plans to boost the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan by 50 percent, which would send an additional 17,000 troops to a 30,000 force contingent already there. The progress will depend on the Pakistani government's line against the insurgents. We are all working together to fight terrorism and particularly to fight the cross-border activities that some Taliban engage in. The truce between Pakistan and Taliban in Swat "is certainly reason for concern. Everyone should be concerned by a situation in which extremists would have a safe haven. The impact on civilians could be harsh under strict interpretation of Shariah law.

Milk Going Up?

cows Pictures, Images and Photos From the looks of things it will be hard to get a container of milk in coming months. The dairy farmers can no longer afford to feed the cows that produce the milk. It's my opinion that milk is already too high and now it will even be hard to find......... Prices for milk now are about half what it costs farmers to produce the staple, and consumer prices are falling. Unless the market can be bolstered, industry officials project that more than 1.5 million of the nation's 9.3 million milking cows could be slaughtered this year as dairy operators look to cut costs and generate cash.

The Stimulus Bill.......

The House could vote on the bill as early as Thursday, though Friday seemed more likely. The Senate would follow, but its schedule is less certain.

The $500-per-worker credit for lower- and middle-income taxpayers that Obama outlined during his presidential campaign was scaled back to $400 during bargaining by the Democratic-controlled Congress and White House. Couples would receive $800 instead of $1,000. Over two years, that move would pump about $25 billion less into the economy than had been previously planned.

Officials estimated it would mean about $13 a week more in people's paychecks when withholding tables are adjusted in late spring. Critics say that's unlikely to do much to boost consumption.

Millions of people receiving Social Security benefits would get a one-time payment of $250 under the agreement, along with veterans receiving pensions, and poor people receiving Supplemental Security Income payments.

An additional $46 billion would go to transportation projects such as highway, bridge and mass transit construction; many lawmakers wanted more.

CoWorkers, Loose Both Family Jobs........

I'm sure if they knew this type of situation would arise in later years, they would have made an effort to work in different fields. As layoffs mount across the country and in all sectors, couples who are co-workers are increasingly vulnerable to losing their families' twin sources of income at once. The lack of variety in job skills can also make it difficult to bounce back, especially in a struggling industry. It may seem harsh for an employer to lay off both spouses simultaneously. But companies risk lawsuits and union contract violations if they consider workers' family status in determining who to eliminate.

Michael Gets Put on Hold........

“Michael accepts these decisions and understands their point of view. He has been suspended for three months and had his training stipend revoked by USA Swimming. Since a photo surfaced showing him inhaling from a marijuana pipe he lost a high-profile sponsor when Kellogg Co, said it wouldn’t renew its deal with Phelps that expires later this month. “The penalty is far greater than the crime". He has said he is sorry. Let’s move on to the real problems in this country.” When he posed for Playboy, so many officials looked down on him. Michael knows he isn’t a bad person, he made a mistake, people need to get over it. "The one thing I hope is that people realize Michael is still a person and not just a swimming hero.” He won’t be able to take on any rivals until early May, which would give him a little more than two months of competition before July’s world championships in Rome.

Mother Of Octuplets........

Well, here she is in all her motherly glory......Now what will she do? I just can't believe the audacity of this woman, to think that in these economic times, people want to help her with this whim. I realize it took her own body to do this, but she not being rational. Maybe she needs some counseling at the place she's been drawing money from for her injury. I'm sure there will be needs for formula, diapers and infant clothing. I don't know if she wears Indie Clothing or not, but she will need more, when she looses her baby fat. This image provided by NBC shows Nadya Suleman, left, speaking with Ann Curry in New York, in Suleman's first interview since giving birth to octuplets last week. Jennifer Hudson.........

Have you ever had you soul stirred, when you heard the National Anthem sang? Today, as I listened to Jennifer, sing it with an unwavering voice, chills ran up and down my spine. The Super Bowl, is one of the Nation's biggest football games and it gives the world of sport enthusiastics', a chance to have a big party. Today is the big game, with the Cardinal's vs the Steeler's.............and so here we go. The Steeler's won the game in a last minute touchdown 27 to 23 over the Cardinals........ It was an exciting 3 minutes, when Carolina, pulled a touchdown out of their hats and were ahead of the Steelers. Not being intimidated by this downfall, the Steelers came back with a touchdown of their own, to win the game........... There were some "1sts" in this game.............a safety...........and a 100 yard return on a fumble....... Most of the game had fans on the edge of their seats.

Stimulus.........

The massive stimulus bill backed by President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats could go down to defeat if it's not stripped of unnecessary spending and focused more on housing issues and tax cuts. The bill topped out at nearly $900 billion, and is headed to the floor for debate. It boasts that single workers would gain $500 and couples $1,000, even if they don't earn enough to owe federal income taxes. They say there's going to be too many people who didn't pay the tax to start with. Some Senators characterized the proposal as "a spending plan. It's not a stimulus plan. It's temporary, and it's wasteful." American's are spending less, saving more which is bad for the economy when everyone does it. Economists say more money needs to be poured into the financial industry at the heart of the economy. I say, "Good Luck", people get scared when things like this starts happening.
